Setup Guide

Get connected in under 5 minutes. Pick your platform below.

  1. 1

    Install WireGuard

Download the official WireGuard installer for Windows from wireguard.com/install. Run the installer and follow the prompts. No account needed — it's free and open source.

  2. 2

    Download your config

Log in to your Avolra dashboard. Under your device, click the Windows button to download a pre-configured installer (.ps1 file). This file has your personal WireGuard config already baked in.

  3. 3

    Run the installer

Right-click the downloaded .ps1 file and choose "Run with PowerShell". Accept the administrator prompt. The script installs WireGuard (if needed), imports your config, and starts the tunnel automatically.

  4. 4

    Verify your connection

Open a browser and visit ipleak.net. Your IP address should show the VPN server location, not your home IP.

Troubleshooting

The tunnel connects but websites don't load

Check that UDP port 51820 is not blocked by your firewall or network. Some corporate networks block non-standard UDP ports. Try a different network (e.g. your phone's hotspot) to confirm.

macOS says the .command file can't be opened

Right-click the file and choose "Open" instead of double-clicking. Then click "Open" in the security dialog. This only needs to be done once.

Windows PowerShell says the script is blocked

Open PowerShell as Administrator and run: Set-ExecutionPolicy RemoteSigned -Scope CurrentUser. Then try running the .ps1 file again.

My IP didn't change after connecting

Make sure the tunnel is toggled on in the WireGuard app and shows a green/active status. If it shows an error, check that your config was imported correctly and try reconnecting.

I lost my config file

Log in to your Avolra dashboard and click the Win / Mac / Linux / QR buttons on any existing device row to re-download or re-generate your installer at any time.
